Cats

I’m the monk (or at least I’ve lived like one since moving to Philly) and you remember the elusive Snoopycat, don’t you? Well, I found her! I found Snoopycat! I was snooping around Rhapsody and, lo and behold, she was under my very nose as this time. As Marian Anderson would say, “And that’s why I call her Snoopycat”.

Now that I’ve heard the tale of Marian Anderson’s cat “Snoopy”, I’ve finally heard it all. The album defies description, but for my readers, I’ll attempt the impossible. Well, the album is literally the adventures of Marian Anderson’s Cat “Snoopy” interspersed with little ditties, narrated and sung by Anderson. But it’s so much more. [more . . . ]

The Many Moods Of Calvin

June 15, 2008

Kids …. you give something to one, and you gotta give it to the other one too. For example …

Calvin, the step-cat, (aka “Big Papa”, “The George Clooney Of Pussycats”) was not about to allow Boo to become Martha Stewart’s next feline spokesmodel without a cat-fight (see “Guten Abend, Pussycat“). In an unprecedented move, he sprawled across our new Martha Stewart comforter and demanded equal air-time, or else.

Postcard From The Edge

April 30, 2008

The other day, I got this uncontrollable urge to surf around Vinyl Divas, the fanatical website devoted to the lost art of divadienst LP covers. I had no particular reason to visit the site that day, but I felt compelled to go to Vinyl Divas right then. I didn’t know why. Now, I do.

Waiting for me at Vinyl Divas was a postcard. A postcard from the great beyond, in fact, sent to me by my recently-deceased black cat. When I saw it, I immediately knew my purpose for visiting Vinyl Divas that day. I also immediately knew the message I was receiving.

“Don’t Worry. Marian Anderson’s Taking Great Care Of Me. Miss You Lots. See You Soon. Love, Oprah”

Ciao, the Gates for Cats

February 25, 2005

Drat The Cat!

“The Gates for Cats” is gone before I could even blog about it!

The Gates for Cats was/is/always will be a truly brilliant satire of those other, more notorious Gates located in Central Park. Like it’s more famous sisters, the Cat Gates were merely temporary as well. Fortunately, I found a pic on the web of the Somerville Gates, aka “The Gates For Cats”. Isn’t this the true symbiosis of art and environment. Too bad there aren’t any photos of Ann Richards erecting these Gates!
